The Canberra Sexual Health Centre, located at The Canberra Hospital, is a free and confidential clinic providing a wide range of sexual health services.
Services provided
- Testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
- Contraceptive advice
- Sexual dysfunction counselling
- Educational and health promotional resources
Confidentiality
The service is staffed by a team of medical practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals.
Maintaining confidentiality is a major priority of the Centre and Medicare numbers are not required. Medical records are stored in a separate system (and location) from The Canberra Hospital and the computerised records are not linked to any other system.
HIV positive patients have access to the inpatient services of The Canberra Hospital. Outpatient services include anti-retroviral therapy, day-care facilities, psychiatric care, and social support.
